Epilepsy is a brain disorder resulting from dysfunction in neuronal signaling. The disorder can affect any age group, may be chronic, and in most cases requires long-term therapy.
In the United States more than 2 million people have active epilepsy. Partial seizures, where only one part of the brain is affected, are the most common type of seizure experienced by people with epilepsy.

Research Study for Partial Epilepsy not well controlled by current Antiepileptic Drugs - Sponsored by Sunovian Pharmaceuticals
Who?: Patients age 16-70 years old who experience partial onset seizures that are not well-controlled by their current anti-epileptic medications.
What?: A phase III study to see if the investigational drug, eslicarbazepine acetate, works in people with partial epilepsy as a monotherapy (single medication).
When?: 18 weeks, 10 office visits
Compensation?: Up to $1000 for study participation may be available
Chance for Placebo?: No chance to be assigned placebo, all eligible participants are guaranteed to get study drug
